The Canon, the Nikon and the Pentax
Another month has gone by and I think it is due time for a status update. Apart from reading a lot of books which I intend to review once I am done with them, I must say that I recently caved in to the “pressure” of digital and all its amenities. I bought myself a 2006 Nikon D40 (review here) and the Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 DX lens (review here). The camera itself, came with the 18-55 kit lens but I wanted to be closer to my old trustworthy 1977 Pentax MX with the 50mm f/1.7 SMC-M. Hybrid: The best of both worlds
I have always been fond of photography. 6 months ago, decided to delve deeper into my hobby, perhaps even have a go at it on a professional level. I thought it would be easy. I convinced myself that all that was necessary would be to read a couple of books and things would magically fall into place. The problem became apparent as I kept reading and learning new stuff everyday. I was at a huge dillema. No, this is not my intention. No more images of the “smart guides” or the live preflight and so on. You can already find zillions of these all around the internet as well as detailed reviews and exhaustingly descriptive videos to go with them. The bottom line, are they any good? As with any improvement, of course they are. But that’s not the point.
